After leaving Manchester United behind, Sevilla now have arguably even tougher task. They face Bayern Munich in the quarterfinal of the Champions League. The first part of the doubleheader will take place on Tuesday evening at Sevilla’s ground Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán. Here’s a Sevilla vs. Bayern Munich match preview that will hopefully help you beat the bookies!
Sevilla vs. Bayern Munich match preview
Sevilla
Sevilla’s form can be best described as strange. This is a side that seems to play the best when considered an underdog. They managed to beat Manchester United at the Old Trafford 2:1 and book a spot in the Champions League quarterfinals. But, then again, they lost to Leganes the same week. And last weekend they played 2:2 with Barcelona, in a game that was overloaded with excitements. Let’s just say that Sevilla had 2:0 lead in that match up until 88th minute!
So, obviously, Sevilla’s recent run doesn’t give us too much insight on how they’re gonna perform on Tuesday. You might think that their history with Bayern would be useful info. Unfortunately, these teams haven’t met in official games, at least not in this century. Sevilla did play against a German team in the Champions League in 2016. They were in the same group as Borussia Monchengladbach, so they played two times. Sevilla won the clash in Andalusia, while Borussia won the game played in Germany.
Of course, things have changed quite a lot in the last three years. In fact, only a couple of players who played that year for Sevilla are still in the team. A new manager has also arrived. Instead of Unai Emery, Sevilla’s head coach now is Vicenzo Montella.
Since he’s joined the club, his team has been doing fairly well, despite the fact that they lost a couple of matches in which they were considered absolute favorites. They’re now at the 6th spot in La Liga, but obviously, their main focus now is to do well against Bayern. Unfortunately for Sevilla, the outcome of the game doesn’t depend only on them, but Bayern as well.
Bayern Munich
According to bookies, Bayern Munich is the third biggest favorite for winning the Champions League, after Barcelona and Manchester City. It’s not a big surprise that the bookmakers think that, considering that Bayern has practically already finished their job in the Bundesliga. They will stay the champions of Germany for another year, which means that they can focus entirely on the continental competition.
Saying that Bayern are in a good run would be a big understatement. They did lose to Red Bull Leipzig two weeks ago, but this weekend they destroyed their arch-rivals, Borussia Dortmund by 6:0. Their impressive form stretches far back. In fact, the defeat to RB Leipzig was their first defeat since November.
Bayern do have a couple of problems with injuries, but most of their crucial players are fit. Not only they’re fit physically but they’ve been playing great lately. Lewandowski, for example, has scored 6 goals in his previous 4 matches.

Sevilla vs. Bayern Munich Match Prediction
I have no doubt that we’ll see Bayern in the semifinal of the Champions League, but I’m not totally sure what’s gonna happen in the first part of the Sevilla doubleheader. Considering that Sevilla’s Ben Yedder is currently the second-best scorer in this Champions League season and that this team’s been playing offensively, I think we will see some goals on Tuesday. I think BTS and Over 2.5 are likely to happen.
