Despite the loss in the second leg Barcelona reached their eighth European Cup final on Tuesday night and will play in Berlin against Real Madrid or Juventus.
Barcelona‘s 18-match unbeaten run was ended, but Neymar’s first-half double secured the place in the final for the Spanish giant. After Bayern’s seventh minute lead through Medhi Benatia, Neymar was twice picked out by striker Luis Suarez and made a lead in the first half-time.
Spanish side is now one victory away from triumphing in each of the three titles they are chasing including a Primera division, Spanish Cup and the Champions League.
“We are where we want to be each year, one step from winning everything, and we’ll try to take that step.” – said Andres Iniesta.
Bayern struck back with second-half goals from Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Mueller, but it wasn’t enough to qualify in the final of UEFA Champions league.
“As a player you always believe in miracles. The fans support tonight was incredible. I haven’t experienced anything like it. I think we gave everything and showed the will to win. We played much better than we did in Barcelona. We created a lot of chances and I don’t think anyone can claim we lost in any manner today.” – said Philipp Lahm.
Barca showed the quality in both matches and they deserved to play in Berlin on 6th June. This will be their first appearance in the final of this competition since 2011, when they won the trophy under Guardiola.
In the second semi finals, Real Madrid host Juventus at Santiago Bernabéu tonight and after that we will find out who will play against Barcelona in the final of Champions League.
