February 10th will mark the day when 2 of the best teams in the Premier League clash at Etihad Stadium in Manchester, where we will see Manchester City hosting Chelsea in their 2nd H2H match this season.
Manchester City are back at the top of the Premier League after Liverpool failed to win their last 2 matches against Leicester (1:1) and West Ham (1:1). I have talked about Manchester City chances to climb back to the top before, and while I believed it was possible, I did not imagine Liverpool would perform so poorly and lose their top spot due to playing a draw against Leicester and West Ham. As shocking as it is, Manchester City are back at the top spot due to goal difference and 2 wins against Arsenal (0:3) and most recently Everton (0:2). With the match against Arsenal behind them, City will face off against another tough opponent Chelsea, who are currently 4th in the league well behind Manchester City and Liverpool but are still a team that needs to be respected. Looking at Manchester City performances at home stadium this season, they have only lost once and are holding an impressive 12-0-1 record. Surprisingly enough the team that managed to defeat Manchester City were no other than Crystal Palace on December 22nd, 2018.
Chelsea are coming into this match after disappointing results in their recent matches. While they are still a 15-5-5 team this season, Chelsea lost 2 of their last 5 games against Arsenal (2:0) and Bournemouth (4:0). On the bright side, Chelsea won against Newcastle (2:1) and most recently against Huddersfield (5:0), which did help with their morale after being defeated by Bournemouth only 3 days prior. In all competitions, Chelsea are 6-1-3 in the last 10 games. On February 10th they will face off against their toughest opponents in the span of those 10 games at Etihad, where they only won twice in the last 9 visits to the Manchester City home stadium (2-1-6). On the other side, Pep Guardiola does not have a good record against The Blues, as he has lost more league matches against Chelsea than to any other team in his career (3 losses).
Manchester City vs Chelsea Prediction
Going into this match Manchester City are considered a favourite (odds 1.50), which is far, as they cannot afford to lose more points in addition to an impressive record, they hold against Chelsea at Etihad. With such low odds offered on Manchester City, betting on them offers no value, on the other side we won’t consider the AH bet of -1 on Manchester City, because as good as they are, I don’t believe they will dominate Chelsea. Looking at how the 2 teams performed in the league recently, City has scored an impressive 12 goals and conceded only 3 in the past of their last 5 games, while Chelsea scored 7 and conceded just as many. Taking all into consideration, I believe both teams will look for goals and with their attacking power, I do believe both will find a way to do so. In that regard, a BTTS betting tip is the one we will go for.
