The clash between Swansea and Southampton might decide which team is gonna stay in the Premier League for another season. At the moment, both sides have an equal number of points, but Soton have an advantage thanks to a better goal difference. But, everything can change on Tuesday evening at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium in Wales, so make sure to check out this Swansea vs. Southampton match preview before placing any bet!
Swansea
The Swans have been in a terrible form in the last couple of weeks, which, as a result, made them drop into the relegation zone. This team lost five out of nine previous matches, counting all competitions, scoring only two goals along the way.
Another problem for them is that they’re facing highly-motivated Southampton, who have been playing fairly well lately. To get out of the relegation zone, they need to beat Soton on Tuesday, something that’s not gonna be an easy job. But, the things aren’t entirely bad for Swansea.
Even if they fail to beat Southampton, they still have a chance to avoid relegation. But, in that scenario, they need to beat the already-relegated Stoke in the last round, as well as to see Huddersfield losing their two remaining matches. That doesn’t seem impossible, considering that Huddersfield play against Chelsea and Arsenal in the last two games.
Southampton
Southampton play against the Premier League champions, Manchester City in the closing round of the 2017/2018 season. That’s a kind of match that’s gonna be very hard to win or even draw. That’s why the game against Swansea seems like their crucial moment of the season.
If they manage to win in Wales, they will save themselves from relegation, regardless of what happens in the last round. Even if Swans manage to get to the same number of points as them, the goal difference will still be on the side of Southampton.
So, it’s fair to assume that Southampton are gonna go all-in in this game. The fact is that a draw would not mean be a satisfying outcome for them. In that case, they would probably have to go for a win against the Premier League title winners in the final round.
The good news ahead of the game with the Swans is that Soton have been playing very well lately. They won a total of five points in the previous three Premier League rounds. They could’ve done even better, but they allowed a late goal in the match against Everton which ended 1:1.
Speaking of late goals, Soton have been disastrous in the late stages of games. They dropped a point in the game against Arsenal a month ago, after conceding in the 81st minute. On 14th of April, they had a 2:0 lead against Chelsea up until 20 minutes before the end, when the Blues scored three goals in less than 10 minutes. Soton need to be extra careful not to let the same happen on Tuesday in their most important game of the season.

Swansea vs. Southampton Match Prediction
Both teams have the desire to win this game, but Soton need the three points more. They also have the player quality on their side and I think they can withstand the pressure. They will probably try to get the job early on, so we may see them scoring in the first half.
