Tottenham vs. Manchester City Match Preview & Betting Tips

It’s been a bad couple of days for Manchester City, who have recently got knocked out of the Champions League. They also lost the Manchester Derby a week ago, which means that they still haven’t claimed the Premier League title. They can get a step closer to achieving that goal if they beat Tottenham this weekend. The problem is that the Tottenham vs. Manchester City game will take place at the Wembley where the Spurs have been fantastic this season.

Tottenham

The Spurs are currently in the fourth place on the Premier League table, just behind Liverpool who have the same number of points but a better goal difference. However, the Spurs have played a game less than the Reds. Of course, in order to move higher on the table, they need to play well till the end of the season. This includes winning points this weekend, as well.

Tottenham are hoping that playing at home will be able to help them get a good result against Man City. They have every right to hope so, considering the fact that this team has failed to win only one home game this year. It happened back in January, when they drew 1:1 against West Ham.

Another reason why the Spurs can be optimistic ahead of this clash is that they’re players have been in a pretty decent form in the last couple of weeks. After losing to Juventus in the Champions League in the early March, they went on to win each of the subsequent matches.

The good news for Tottenham fans don’t end there – this team also has almost no injury worries at the moment. Harry Winks seems to be the only first-team player who will have to miss this duel due to an injury. But, to be frank, even if he was fit, he’d probably sit it out. After all, Tottenham squad is full of super-talented players.

Speaking of talented players, I need to mention that Harry Kane is fully fit for this game. He had been struggling with an injury last month, but it seems that those days are gone. He’s now ready to get back in the race for the top scorer title in the Premier League. Right now, Mo Salah has 4 goals more than him, so Kane will have to do his best to overtake the top spot before the end of the season.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola’s team seems to be in a very bad place at the moment. They’ve lost three games in a row, two of which were a part of their Champions League campaign. Failing to qualify for the semifinal of this competition has caused a serious blow to their players’ morale. But, at least they have the Premier League. Or do they?

It’s true that Manchester City are on the top of the table with 13 points more than their city rivals. As there are only six rounds left, the chances are that Guardiola’s team will win the title. But, their plan was to do it last weekend in the Manchester Derby. And they were on the road to achieving that, at least in the first half. It was 2:0 Manchester City after the first 45 minutes, but then Pogba happen. The French playmaker played a superb game that helped his team win the match 3:2.

What this means is that unless the Red Devils fail to beat the bottom-placed WBA on Sunday, Man City will not be able to claim the title this weekend, even if they manage to win all three points against Tottenham. Of course, this doesn’t mean that they won’t be motivated in this game. On the contrary, beating the Spurs on Wembley seems exactly like the thing they need after three defeats in a row.
